Rules.
1. OOC drama is unwelcome. Drama llamas are less welcome. Moving IC drama into the OOC community is unwelcome, save for purposes of plotting. Just because your character has an unrequited crush doesn’t mean you get to whine about it, and being a bitch OOC just makes people reluctant to play with you. Likewise, don’t move OOC drama IC. If something squicks you OOC, but wouldn’t squick your character, then don’t have your character cause drama about it. Problems with this rule tend to ruin games. If you're having problems with another player, please contact a mod when it starts and we will deal with it before it gets to be a big issue. This is a game. It is for fun.
2. In addition to Rule Number One, we ask that you please handle plots that come up in game with maturity. Rent Asunder is a dark game with a dark plot, and both player-created and mod-created plots will likely deal with mature themes and threads/logs/roleplays may go as high as an NC-17 rating. Although we will not have an enforced age policy, we will expect that players be able to handle everything that comes up.
3. Rent Asunder is an AU game after HBP, but we ask that you keep all characterizations as close to canon as possible. Some deviation will occur, but please don’t rewrite the books and keep the canon surrounding your character in mind. Ginny won’t be defecting to the DEs, or falling in love with Draco, without a lot happening to her in game, and, conversely, Bellatrix won’t just suddenly turn good and start saving drowning puppies.
4. Good spelling and grammar are your friends, we promise. Please use them. Additionally, we’re not going to be excessively Brit-picky, but try to keep simple things like spelling and some common slang in mind.
5. Players may have a maximum of seven characters, and we ask that you be as active with all your characters as possible. For information on the activity policy, see the FAQ.
6. Please don’t make your character into a Mary Sue/Gary Stu. We will not be accepting original characters, but there are plenty of characters with very little canon surrounding them. Regardless of whether you’re playing a minor canon character or a major character, don’t write a Sue/Stu. They aren’t fun to play with, and they’re even less fun to play.
7. God-modding is a major no-no, in most cases. In some cases, such as for small actions or if a character is unconscious, it may be necessary or may make things easier, but please work everything out with any other players every time god-modding may occur.
8. Relationships happen. This is a fact of life, and Rent Asunder is more than fine with relationships developing and being played out in game. We are also fine with relationships existing from the beginning (e.g.: the arranged marriage between Gwen Rivers and Gabriel Harper), and both slash and het will be allowed. If you have an idea for a serious plot line (character death, drug dependency, pregnancy, etc.), clear it with us and everyone involved first.
